Laurel Broten, MPP for Etobicoke-Lakeshore has introduced a Private Member’s Bill in the Legislature to protect Ontario’s children. If enacted, this legislation would require all Ontarians to report images of child abuse and online child sexual exploitation. The Child Pornography Reporting Act, 2008 is set for second reading and debate on March 20, 2008.
"The law in Canada is clear - the consumption and distribution of child pornography is an offence," said Paul Gillespie, President of Kids Internet Safety Alliance and former Toronto Police Officer. "In the fight against internet child sexual exploitation, we know that the mandatory reporting of these images is an important step forward."
