KINSA applauds introduction of Ontario bill to protect children

Laurel Broten, MPP for Etobicoke-Lakeshore has introduced a Private Member’s Bill in the Legislature to protect Ontario’s children. If enacted, this legislation would require all Ontarians to report images of child abuse and online child sexual exploitation. The Child Pornography Reporting Act, 2008 is set for second reading and debate on March 20, 2008.



"The law in Canada is clear - the consumption and distribution of child pornography is an offence," said Paul Gillespie, President of Kids Internet Safety Alliance and former Toronto Police Officer. "In the fight against internet child sexual exploitation, we know that the mandatory reporting of these images is an important step forward."

KINSA Founder’s Fundraising Gala welcomes iSafe America national spokesperson, actor Robert Davi (May 1, 2008)

KINSA is delighted to announce that the 2008 Founder's Fundraising gala event will take place on Thursday, May 1st, 2008 at the Liberty Grand Governor's Ballroom in Toronto's Exhibition Place.



Engaging corporate Canada and expanding on alliances in the fight to make the Internet a safer place for kids and families are the focus of this year's gala event. In its work with agencies around the world, KINSA has identified some of the best practices in the domain of protecting kids online and some of these will be highlighted on May 1st.



iSafe America is one of the largest and highest profile organizations involved in the protection of kids in the online space. In 1998, iSafe played a pivotal role in crafting the Children’s Online Privacy & Protection Act (COPPA) in the United States. iSafe America’s national spokesperson, actor Robert Davi, will be a featured guest at the gala.
