Tis the week before Christmas...

So how did it become the week before Christmas all of a sudden?  To say I'm in panic mode is a bit of an understatement, I thought I was ahead of it - but somehow once again, I'll likely be shopping on the 24th.  Truth be known, I actually enjoy it and there are always some fantastic deals - although I tend to get confused with regards to who I'm buying for (my name is never on the list -  but there is always something I want to buy for me).

And it would not be the holidays if we didn't think of it as a time of giving.  I've been moved this year by the number of people who have told me that their Holiday contribution this year will go to the
Mothers Online Movement.  Support is growing and there have been a number of key events including the Jim Cuddy event in November that raised $10,000.00 for MOM.  Paul Gillespie and I met with SCAN (Suspected Child Abuse and Neglect unit at Sick Kids Hospital) a couple of weeks ago to let them know about our fundraising efforts and they were incredibly pleased - so please keep the support coming.

On that note - "Random Acts of Cupcakes" has just launched and kits to hold your event are available
here.  Can't think of a better New Year event than a cup cake sale - can you?

I know that many of you know my story and why I started MOM - but
here's a story  written by Microsoft that I thought might provide greater context on the passion I have around this issue and why your support means so much.

Some of you may also be aware of the
mandatory reporting proposed legislation recently announced in Ottawa - great to see the Conservative government take this step.  The more sites that are found the more likely it is that victims of online child exploitation can be rescued. This is important legislation and I encourage you to contact your local member of parliament to offer your support of this legislation.

So back to it being a week before Christmas... I do hope all of you enjoy time with your families that are filled with joy and I look forward to connecting with you in the New Year.

Happy Holidays.
